It's entirely possible however to have a multi class. I played with reset potions and one of my builds was multi. I had 3 weapon slots with red mutagen, 3 signs slots with blue mutagen, 3 alchemy slots with green mutagen and 3 slots for general skills. It wasn't the best but it gave a very wide range of bonuses to all combat styles.
